Island Colonial

A New House in Hobe Sound

Situated on a mid-Island lot on Hobe Sound, this new construction Island Colonial wraps around a classically-based, impeccably landscaped courtyard that serves as a tranquil, private oasis. Inspired by the homeowner’s admiration of the work of the famed English set designer-turned-architect Oliver Messel, the 7,600 square foot home combines the relaxed feel of the Caribbean with the elevated aesthetics and amenities of modern living.

Thoughtfully placed windows and doors take full advantage of open air breezes and help to create a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor living spaces. To maximize natural light particularly during the winter months, the house was turned 90 degrees to the street to give the main living spaces the benefit of a gorgeous southern exposure.

The house also features an exquisite, hand-carved oak front door transported from the homeowner’s private residence in Barbados, which was built as a wedding gift from her late husband.
